Easiest Break In Ever

Having been an AKU boot wearer for 20+years I can speak to their construction and dependability. The Superalp NBK GTX is very comfortable right out of the box. Haven't had an hotspots yet, which speaks highly to the last that they built this boot around. My one let down was that the boot isn't semi-auto crampon compatible. When looking at the different models of the Superalp it wasn't easy to tell by the photos if the soles were crampon compatible. Other than that the boots are supportive, robust and very comfortable.

I have had many different boots such as crispi, kennetrek, and Irish setters and these boots are by far the best I’ve had!!

Best I've owned

I've had these for about 2 years now, so it's time to give them their due. I'm about 9.5-10 US with a slightly wide D/E, foot, at least at the ball of the foot. These fit perfectly with a Superfeet hike support insole. I'd say they probably run a little bigger than true to size, I like room for my toes so this set up is perfect for me. I was concerned that being a European boot they might be too narrow in the toebox, which always irritates me, but the toebox is perfect both width and height wise.

I use these for hiking in rugged terrain and as general work boots (landscaping, construction) and they're great. Zero break-in time for me and I did a ten-mike mountain hike the third or fourth time I wore them with no problems whatsoever. I use another AKU boot (Pilgrim DS) so haven't worn these in the height of summer, but they've been great for all other seasons.

I've used a lot of different boots; these are just an outstanding value and the most ergonomic boots of this type I've owned. Plenty stiff for a hunting boot if you want that, but equally good for walking down a dirt trail. Made me an AKU, and I now own three pairs. If AKU made a 10", non-insulated, desert-type boot, I'd have a fourth.
