An interview with Beth Bershader

- What outdoor activity is your passion?
- Hiking – Whether it be on a local trail I’ve explored many times or a new trail in another state or country. I love that when I’m hiking I can take my time to look around to really soak in the beauty of nature. It is my soul food. It is where I find solace. It is my dirt church.
- How did you get involved in that activity, and how old were you when you started?
- It probably all started as a child growing up with 100 acres of nature preserve with woods and creeks right in my backyard. I really began hiking when I lived in Jackson Hole in the early ‘90s, I just had to see the beauty on my own two feet, away from the roads and the people.
- What was the most epic trip you’ve ever taken?
- Hiking the multi-day Alta Via 1 & Alta Via 2 routes in the Dolomites of Italy staying at high mountain rifugios along the way.
- What is the most important piece of gear in your pack? (other than AKU footwear, of course!)
- My MontBell ultralight down jacket with a hood.
- Where do you hope your AKUs will take you in the future?
- More multi-day trips like the Tahoe Rim Trail, Provence Inn to Inn in France, Cottswold Way in the UK.
